Dear Family,

This year, October 2, 2023 will mark my dad’s 86th birthday. He’s led a remarkable life with his partner, Linda, by his side. To celebrate a new circuit around the sun, I would really like to do something special for him at this precious time in his life.

My dad has dementia. His steady cognitive decline as resulted in some confusion, lost memories, but what remains is his love for his family - his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and his wide extended family. He loves babies and children. He still loves music and dancing.

For THIS birthday, I would like to invite all of our family around the world to please do a short video greeting to wish him a happy birthday. I will edit the greetings together so he can watch the program on his iPad and he can enjoy the smiling faces of his family - even if he can’t remember the names.

So please follow the directions so we can make this birthday a very special one for my dad, Uncle Ces to some, Kuya to others… Papa to his grandkids.

DUE DATE: September 27th.

Get me the vid by 09/27 to ensure it gets into the birthday video.

IF you can't get it in time for birthday, please do it anyway and send a greeting to him when you can. I will add more family for Christmas.

WHAT TO INCLUDE

Say your name clearly and INCLUDE your relationship to him.

Example: "This is your nephew Dale Mendoza, your brother Gil's son..."

If you have young kids who can talk, let them talk. HE LOVES THEM!

Here’s an example script - My nephew, Brandon and his wife and family as example. They have 4 kids:

“Hi Papa Cesar! This is Brandon, Kip and Javier’s son and this is my wife, Shannon.”

“Hi Papa Papa - this is Andrea! This is Breezy! This is Viviana! This is Kalea!”

“Happy birthday to you! We love you and hope you have a great day!"

“Hi Papa! This is Henry your favorite grandson! I’m sending you hugs and love from Sheffield England!! I hope you have a happy birthday! I love you alot and will come visit you soon!"
